Help Ich (I think)

:( My fish have developed white patches in them. My sailfin molly has Fuzzy/scruffy patches on his sides and near his eye. My angel has white patches on his head. The other three do not seem to be affected yet. I have no money until the end of the month. What should I do?????

White fuzzy patches sounds more like fungus than ich. Ich would look more like small greyish dots (like gray sand).

I'm not a fungus expert, but I don't know anyway to get rid of it besides meds. Drop by the LFS and look for a fungus medication and see if you can't scrape together the cash...unless someone else comes up with something DIY.

Not fungus. Fungus looks like cotton wool.

Patches are more likely to be columnaris or a similar skin infection. Do an image search on Google using "columnaris" for some pictures to establish if that's what's wrong.

Mollies are susceptible to skin complaints if kept in low TDS water - i.e. soft.

I guess I was thinking that "White Fuzzy Patches" would be a way to describe cotton wool...

Mind you, the good thing is that many of the same meds tend to work on fungus and columnaris.

your best bet is to go to your pet store and buy a couple types of meds (liquid ones have had the best results for me). I had a ich outbreak that was easily controlled quickly.
