I was hoping that someone could help me out with the names of some tank manufacturers. I'm looking to setup a new 75 gallon, and I wasn't sure if there was a particular manufacturer that I would want to consider. One more question, how do live plants affect the chemistry of your tank water, does it contaminate it faster, does it help keep it cleaner? Any information would be helpful. Thanks

Someone recently posted a link in another thread of all the different manufacturers, but I couldn't find it. All Glass is one brand I am familiar with and have not had any problems. As for the plants, you really should go lurk in the plant forum. They do use up nitrates(a good thing), help oxygenate the tank, and look better than plastic(IMO). But you also have lighting, fertilization, and possibly the addition of O2 to worry about as well. As I am not high in knowledge on the subject I can't help you much more, but that's a start.

how oyu know witch company made your tank? it dosnt have a lable or anything on mines.

All-Glass and Perfecto (Marineland) are probably the most popular in the US, followed by Oceanic. Some folks here have reported good experiences with Glass Cages.

Here in Costa Rica, most of the tanks I see for sale are built by the LFS owner and it can be less expensive than a branded one. I don't know if it's the same in the USA, but I'd rather support my LFS.

However, now I build my own tanks buying glass from the shop ans some silicone. It's not as hard as it might seem at first, but if you are affraid of cuts or glass breaking, have some one do it for you.
