I have some pictus and striped Raphaels and have been feeding them tropical fish flakes---They came with the new filter I bought when I decided to fire up my old aquarium. What I have read says these fish will eat flakes, but wanted to make sure I don't need to get some frozen worms or something.

Also, I know I should feed them late in the day when the lights are off so the Raphs will come out and eat, but how much should I feed and how often. 2 raphs and 2 pictus cats all around 3-4 inches.

I also have a red fined shark, but he eats the flakes with no trouble, but I can't tell for sure if the cats are really eating the food or not.

i used sinking shrimp pellets with my pictus...he seemed to enjoy them, also they enjoy bloodworms.

Pictus are vaccume cleaners, they prefer live food but eat anything. If there is food on the bottom of the tank they will find it and eat it. I do not know about the Raphs though. My only experience is with pictus. If you want to test the appetite of the pictus cats just feed some frozen brine shrimp, that brings them out in a frenzy most of the time.

Gads! Are these all the fish you have in your 10 gallon tank?

Are you aware that the pictus cats will get to 6" and the raphs to 8"?? A 10 gallon isn't suitable for any of these fish!

I don't mean to sound rude, I'm just shocked is all... I'd really suggest reading up on these fish and taking them back to the LFS asap. Really reconsider your stocking here.
