it has been 2 weeks since i started my cycle with 3 large shrimp
and some stuff i got from the LFS called bacter-vital.
my ammonia is zero
my nitrites are rapidly dropping close to zero
my nitrates are low
i am guessing i have another week before im ready to add a fish.
i have chosen my fish already a yellow tang and a cherub angel.
my question is which should i add first?
they are both listed as semi-aggressive.
i am guessing the pygmy angel is probably more aggressive though.i thought i would ask some peeps with more knowledge then me.
thx

Chances are that in 2 weeks you havent cycled. Did you ever get a good amonia spike? Do you have live rock? Sand? Cycle and bacter-vital and all those other bacteria introducing chemicals really dont work. I hope you are cycling with dead cocktail shrimp and not real live shrimp...inhumane! What test are you using? Did you test it or was it your LFS? They might say your water is fine just to sell you the fish.

yawn......
yes i got a super ammonia spike followed by a nitrite spike.
all is at zero except nitrate which im keeping almost undetectable with small frequent water changes.
yes i have live rock
yes i used cocktail shrimp
yes my tank is fully cycled in just under 3 weeks
i do my own tests
i have heard that the bacter-vital and things like it didnt always work but i will tell you that with live rock,3 large cock-tail shrimp, and the bacter-vital i got a large ammonia spike from the get go,cycled like a rocket and i did monitor it closely doing up to 4 tests a day.i have added a yellow tang and a sebae clown.
i ordered a cherub angel(centropyge argi). and that will complete
my fish list(unless anyone feels i can add more.

I wish you, and more importantly your fish, the best. I'm almost six weeks into my cycle (cocktail shrimp, live rock, and live sand) and I am ALMOST at a point where I am confident enough to add a living creature. My chemistry has been posted over the entire cycle for analysis by the AC Team.
I hope your name is not indicative as to the way you approach this hobby. I’m not being judgmental – I’ve learned that there are a million ways to approach things in this obsession -- including a thousand ways to cycle. I’m sure a two-week cycle is possible, but very very unlikely. Wait for some of the experts to chime in as they know a heck of a lot more than me.
Heck, I just spent three hours re-doing my wiring scheme for the ??th time because it wasn’t quite right. Maybe I’m too patient?!?!? (I know gcvt, not possible).

it is not out of this world that i have cycled this fast.
i started this tank 2 years ago had some problems with the floor
underneath the tank.had to take it down.after reading everything i can get my hands on i feel pretty good about alll this.
of course im not gonna jump into a full blown reef tank right now but i pay attention to what i read and i try to mimic the good stuff.
so far its working.as for the LFS i dont ask for advice just salt and food. i believe slipnot can tell you its not impossible to cycle a tank that fast.i think i remember his post bout a year ago.im just here to read and learn things
oh the name is me being ironic.
the only thing bout this forum is when i ask a question i get a question.
