I got my electricity back this afternoon!  I took a nice hot shower, and I'm back on the 'net. :hi: I had thought hurricane Wilma would be nothing, boy was I wrong.
My husband decided to put up our shutters at midnight the night Wilma hit.
I'm so glad he changed his mind. Anyways, I thought you guys might be interested to see a few pictures from during and after the storm. The first one shows our front porch during the storm, and I circled an Areca Palm to show how hard the wind is blowing. The palm normally covers the view of the white van across the street. All other vegetation on the porch was blown out of our huge Ficus trees. The next pic shows the Ficus trees, which used to have very full canopies, and now look twiggy. And the last picture is of our neighbor's house across the street and some of the branches from our trees and theirs. Their tree was about half the size of ours, and they've since cut it the rest of the way down. One funny thing (sort of) that happened during the storm is that one of the times I opened our louvers on the back door to get a peek outside, a couple of pidgeons suddenly blew by, wings spread wide open, and I could practically see the poor things expression
. I felt a little guilty because I thought it was funny in a startling way, they've been pooping all over our cars for years. Well, all said our house faired well, the landscape did not, and now I REALLY don't want to live here anymore.
