My platys had babies and I was able to catch three of them and place them in a breeder container inside my regular tank. How long do I have to leave the fry in this separate container? I have a betta and three platys in the big tank, and I do not want to release them too early for fear of the bigger fish eating or picking on them. Also, one of the babies seems to be growing faster than the rest. What can I do to make the others catch up?

Really frequent water changes and good food are what I understand to be the best way to get the fry to grow. I had mine in a breeder net and they were not getting any bigger after several weeks and I finally let them go, unfortunately they were quickly eaten  !! They just need to be big enough where they can't fit in the other fishes mouth. If you plan on saving alot, you might consider getting a second tank for them, that way you can change the water more frequently/easily. That is assuming you have a plan for all the fry you will eventually have :p:
