You can buy a faucet adapter, if that's what you mean...
And if you do so, I think you can just stick the discharge hose in the drain, so you wouldn't have to drain anything anywhere.

Charlie,
How much water do you need? I'm in a rental so I use Walmart de-ionized water at $.60 a gallon. (The tap is rock hard and persistantly alkaline) It's a bit cumbersome buying a dozen or so at a time but for me it works. I do have an old laundry spigot in the basement I've considered hooking a RO to, but the initial cash outlay is preventing me at the moment.
I tried water from the dehumidifier but that is easily contaminated and production is too variable.

HI,
Unfortuneately water in the UK is a little more expensive! Bottled water here starts at around £0.60 or $1 for 1/2 litre!
RO form my LFS is £0.10 per litre but it's a hassle transporting 25-50g in jerry cans!
I like the idea of dehumidifier but worry about contamination as i smoke and have noticerd the water smelling a bit before - can't be good getting yr fish hooked on Nicotine!!!
I will keep researching - any more advice greatly received.

Besides, if you check the internet, you can find some good Ro/Di units for under 200$ CANADIAN (which is a lot cheaper in the U.K). I haven't regretted buying one, because 1) it's a lot more convenient and 2) It's a lot cheaper in the long run! So if I were you, I'd save up for an Ro/Di unit, which could be a great investment ni your case!
