:help: We have a 60 gallon heavily planted tank, stocked with Malawis, since introducing some new plants last week we are infested with tiny snails, can anyone please tell me is there an organic way of removing them, we do not want to use chemicals in the tank if possible.

Any information gratefully received.

I have read that if you place a piece of cucumber overnight or so, all the snails would be on it in the morning and they can be removed by hand. (I'm not sure if this really works)

With this setup clown loaches are not a good idea.

Neither are malawi cichlids in a heavily planted tank. Won't most of those fish snack on snails anyway? Baiting the snails with veggies is one answer. A healthy planted tank should have a small population of snails anyway. As long as you are keeping up with nutrient removal (ie gravel vacing during regular water changes) then the pop should not reach plague proportions. If they really bug you, then trap em out.
