I was wondering if a 29 planted tank is big enough for one marble/koi angelfish, 1 pair of german blue rams...and a couple of otos....

Will one angel be ok by itself...or do they prefer a group ? I have read that you need to keep at least 5 or six together and not run into aggression problems....I do know that a 29 is no way big enough for that many, but I'm thinking one may be ok as long as it doesn't mind being the only angel....anyone have an opinion ?

Thanks ! :D

Just offhand, I'd say that would be OK. I've kept single angels occasionally, usually at the "end" of a marriage when one has passed on but the other keeps on going, and they never seem to mind. A 29g tank is relatively tall, which is good considering the angel's basic shape, and with a couple of rams, maybe a chaetostoma algae eater or a couple of otos (perhaps a problem because they are so small) and a small catfish or two that ought to be a good combo.

What type of catfish would be small enough for that tank and get along with my rams ? I know that my cories do a fantastic job of keeping the substrate clean and sifted, but I can't have them in with the rams....don't get along....will other smaller types of cats be hardy enough to put up with the rams and still do a good job cleaning the bottom ? I don't have any experience with any but the corys.

Will one yoyo loach do ok ?

Thanks for the info all !!

Maybe a single porthole catfish? They get about 4in and look like a corie that got stretched out. I've kept a single angel in a 29g with dwarfs and it was a perfect fit. Really filled up the tank. If you want to add a few more fish, I would do hatchets or pencil fish since they will stay high and help to fill that difficult top 6 in of the tank.

Ottos, Corries, Fancy Plecs (I have L102 - 6", L168 - 5" and L316 - 3.5" but they do naff all cleaning!) - I have 2 Marble Angels in my 30g - it's a high tank and they seem fine - 1 is way more dominant than the other but only occasionaly will it go for a nip on the other!

i used to have 3 angels, 4 panda cory, 6 hatchets, 1 pair of dwarf gourami. everyone got along good.. no problems..
