Hi All,

Have read AC profile on the Black Ghost Knifefish and have done some further research on them. I have 3 questions

I read they need min of 90g - would they "thrive" in a 100g as not interested in stunting it or having it live a life of misery!

Some sources say they're ok with small plecs others say only big ones - any experience?

Shoud I add more filtration / how sensitive are they really?

I keep levels at - Amm 0, N'Trite 0, N'trate 0-10ppm

I'm not interested in having a fish for a while and then returning it to a store - they're my pets after all!

TIA
Chaz

let's see. bgk gets to abot 24" TL. not a lot of front to back, or top to bottom room left for him (top to bottom seems to be important with mine). If he was one of the only fish in the tank you should be ok.

He is vey jealous of his "space". And, will aggressively defend it. Even against other large aggressive fish.

I have an 18" BGK in a 225 and am convinced the tank is too small for him.

I keep nitrates to less than 5ppm. 10 would probably be ok. I found they enjoy the extra filtration because of the resulting water flow.

Survive? definitely. Thrive? I don't think so. But, i am only basing the opinion on my experience.

oh, mine gets along with small pecos and large common plecos.
