i have a 10g tank with 2 ottos and i have recently found brown algae on my gravel.the ottos dont seem to be eating any of it. is there a way to somehow get rid of it? would snails eat it?

It's probably diatoms. I'd just stir and vacuum the gravel, myself.

Brown algae builds up then you have your light on too long. How many hours do you keep it on per day? It's a good idea to keep it on about 6 to 8 hour per day.

actually, diatoms grow under low light conditions rather than too much light. stirring and vacuuming is probably the best method of getting rid of it.

Increase the lighting and keep the tank and filters as clean as possible.

theres brown algae probably due to un eaten food and fish waste. i would just vacuum the gravel and it will be gone.

Spot on.

Low light conditions will produce Diatoms.

I have them in my Cichlid tank with only one old fluro, anymore light and algea would grow Diatoms are easier to move.
