Well, went out and picked up a pair of koi angelfish for my 29 planted community. They're pretty small yet so I think things will be fine for now with the other fish I have in there.

1 pair of german blue rams
2 female guppies
1 neon dwarf gourami
2 or 3 otos, can't remember..I never see them...lol...
and the 2 angels(they seem to be a pair at this point, but if they end up not getting along the less colorful one goes)

There's a penguin bio-wheel 170 for filtration, 65watts compact flourescent hood and a 100watt heater set at 80.

I plan on removing the female guppies at some point, they're only in there to get them away from the boys.....I have a 20 long I plan on putting them in soon. I'd like some kind of bottom feeder (no plecos) to sort of shift the gravel and do general cleanup...is there a smaller size catfish (not corys..the rams don't like them)...that will fit in this setup ? What about an upsidedown cat ? Do they stay small enough for this setup and are they hardy enough to put up with the rams and angels if they get pushy ?

Here's a few pics of the new tenants..

They're a beautiful fish Doll....for sure.....don't know what took me so long to pick some up....lol !

I just kept looking at that 29 and seeing angels in there (specifically...the Koi variety)....had to have some ! :D

I'm only sorry that one of them has almost no orange/yellow on it...but, they seem to like hanging out together alot, I'm hoping they're a pair...so the lack of coloring would be ok as long as they both get along...lol...

i would bet they develop more orange as they age. some just have it at dime size and some don't. mybe not as brilliant, though.

for example, i purchases 2 goldenpearls at quarter size. one is now half dollar size....getting an orange/gold cast along the head and dorsal fin. maybe it is the food, maybe not.

when breeding and raising fry, some feel that the food initiates the orange coloration. when i had marbles and koi, i raised them on brine shrimp and all seemed to have some orange (but then, both parents also did).

Thanks Gabriel, that's good news ! I'm hoping that one colors up a bit...the other one is JUST what I was hoping to find for coloration....Mostly white with the yellow/orange on the head and a few black patches and spots..very pretty little fish. These two are about quarter size right now...and follow each other around the tank most of the time.

They were in a tank of "assorted" angels for 3.99$ each....and the only two marbles/kois left in the tank.
