Now, I've done lots of research, and I've narrowed down my possible lighting for my new tank. My tank is a 50 gallon, and I'm aiming at getting at least 3 watts per gallon. But, I don't want to overshoot it, since I don't think that would be too good for the fish and I don't want my tank to be too bright as well. I was thinking of getting double power compacts (2X65 watts) and a double strip fluorescent hood. This would make it above 3 watts per gallon, but is there any problems I may encounter by putting in both PC's and fluorescent light? I was thinking of putting in some pigmy chain swords, along with other high light plants. And I will have CO2 injection in there as well.

Thanks

Just remember to calculate your dosing. With that much light the plants will suck up the nutrients. Fluorescents + PC will be fine. Light is light... the only difference is the PC will usually be stronger.
