I already have two goldfish and i am looking to move them into a new 10g tank. What are some other fish that would be good to put them in there with, also do i need to cycle it before i put them in or just do a shortened cycle. I have a regular goldfish and a bubble-eye, so what would do well with those. Also, whats the most fish i could get in the 10g tank, i knows its not too big at all, but i think its good for my first tank, and be much better for my fish than their current home. Thanks for all your help.

Unfortunately, a 10g is still way too small for 2 goldfish, so definately not big enough for more fish!! And yes, they'll do much better if you cycle the tank first. Do you have a filter on the tank they are in now? As long as you dechlorinate the water first and get the temp. the same you can move them to the 10g with the old filter and consider yourself cycled

How big are they?

If you do twice weekly water cahnges, they should be good until they are about 5 or 6 inches.

Then, a 30g, if not more. Try to find a pond for your "regular" one, and get ur bubble eye a friend.

For non-pond goldfish:

1 goldfish needs 30 gallons + 15 gallons more for each additional goldfish.

Please do not keep them in the 10 gallon "until they are 5 or 6 inches". That is WAY too big for a 10 gallon tank.

You are going to need at least a 45 gallon tank for your two fish.

Pond goldfish (comets, shubunkin) need 50 gallons each and they really shouldn't be kept in a tank.

Goldfish need double filteration, so that 45 gallon tank would need a filter rated for 90+ gallons.

If your other goldfish IS a pond goldfish, do NOT keep it with the bubble-eye. It will kill it eventually. Bubble eyes are called "Group 3" goldfish and should only be kept with other Group 3 Goldfish.
