It really depends on the size of your tank and the size of the catfish's tankmates. Most are predatory but some can live peacefully without having fishy snacks ;)

Two basic rules on Cats:

If they have long "whiskers" they are generally considered predatory-Pictus cats.

However, most cats even predatory ones, will only go after fish that will fit easily in their mouth. So as long as you don't have really small fish in your tank it isn't a problem generally.

Except if you have plecos....that can be a concern.

I have a 3' tank, i am not looking for any cats that grow very big, just lively ones that will not eat everything else in the tank.
I appreciate the suggestions, anymore would also be appreciated.

Synodontis Eupterus is a good commmunity tank cat. I have one in my 55 gallon community tank. The upside down's are good. Raphaels are good. Although most cats are nocturnal and are very inactive during the day.
