MURKY water!

Tank size 125 gallons.

My tank is fairly new, only about 1 month into it... ammonia & nitrites are zero, nitrats are about 20ppm.

I don't know what to say but I really noticed the water "turning" at the same time I was putting in zuchinni in my tank. My bristlenose ate a huge chunk of it and there were little green zuchinni poops all around it, I think he just ate the peice (in ~12 hours) and pooped the whole **** thing right out.

While there is corellation b/w the poop and the tank changing colors, nothing else suggests or tells me that is why.

Reading on the forums: Murky water is usually due to 1) Lack of filtration 2) too much feeding 3) too much light.

For my 125 gallon I have a fluval 404 and a magnum HOT. I think filtration is adequate.

My fish always seem to eat every scrap of food I put in the tank. I have many ottos, 6 corys, 2 dojo loaches and even some ghost and bamboo shrimp. They do a good job of clean-up.

Lighting: 260 watts. Had been running from 8am to 7:30pm with a period of 30 mins in the middle of the day where it switches off.

- I have decreased the lighting. It now runs 10am to 7:30pm.
- I have been doing 4-8 gallon water changes daily. Roughly 5% a day.
- I have been putting in 1 cap of Flourish Excell a day but I am careful here as I DO have anachris which is sensitive to it...

So far, not much change.

Questions:
1) Is this water a danger to my fish? The green water? Anything I am doing to fix the problems? Will any of this hurt tetras or other fish?
2) How long does a problem like this usually take to resolve?
3) Am I doing enough? Am I on the right track?

I have inverts in my tank so I can't use some of the algae removers on the market...
Tank inhabitants:
3 plecos (all 4" or under - small ones: bristlenose, clown)
neon tetras x12
2 dojo loach
2 dwarf gourami
6 corys
6 ottos
various guppies
10 zebra danios
2 platys
4 bamboo shrimp
some ghost shrimp

I ordered some hornwort and daphnia. Maybe they can help out.

Anyone: I've changed the water (tonight) in the tank, is the water going to be OK for the daphnia? I hear they're very sensitive to water that isn't very, very old...

hmmm... your'e doing daily water changes? could this be why? because if you are stirring up the bottom and doing that every day, you may not be giving it time to settle down.

This goes well beyond just goop floating around. Changed water is unmistakenly green huewed and I can not see beyond a few inches in my tank. It slightly improved when I did a 20% water change... but it's still awful.
