here is a little rant of mine for anyone whos bored enough to read it lol

my girlfriend called me this evening to inform me that her little brother had bought a 10 gal. kit from petco. Sounds nice enough...until she tells me that she has her own fish. I asked and sure enough, they had already stocked the tank. I just don't understand why petco allows people to buy tanks and fish on the same day! well all I really know is they bought 8 fish; 1 betta (my girlfriends) and 7 unknown fish from the "community" section. 2 of the fish have already died and i'm going there tomorrow afternoon to asses the damage and give a VERY detailed lecture on the maintenance of a tropical tank. I don't know if there is any way to save the fish left in the tank...I just hope they are all small fish and will survive the cycling process.

mmk well I feel better now, thanks for putting up with my rant lol

NOt going to go into detail about petco, but basically, the fish dei and now she has to go back and spend mone on more fish, more products etc. Make sure to bring a test kit for her to keep and make sure daily water changes are done. Should be ok.

ya I'm going to make sure her family gets all the necessary equipment and instruction, this would all be easier if I was the one doing all the work. Unfortunately I have to explain how and why all these things need to be done.

yeah, i'm not bashing all petcos...but every one i have been to so far completely sucked with their aquarium maintinence, i went on saturday to pick up some plants and gravel, and i did not see one fish that wasnt sick, they all either had ich..fungus..dropsy ..swim bladder disease..and there where a few discus and dempseys that had hole in the head....fortunatley the LFS here takes great care of the fish

Went to walmart the other day and they had all the lights off in the tanks, on closer inspection the tanks had 88-90% Dead fish.... I complained and told them a 400lb gorilla could do a better job at the fish.....

walmart makes me sick. period. the tanks at my walmart are completely bare; no gravel, plants, or rocks. there are always dead fish in every tank and no one even knows what any of the fish are. I bought my paradise gourami there and i'm just glad he has a descent home now.
