I have white stringy stuff around my live plant in my tank. I was wondering if this was something to be concerned about. It started a few days ago. It looks like angel hair just floating around the plant.
I took a picture of it but it's pretty small - I will send you a loarger one if it will help!!

Thanks for any help anyone can give!!

Definitely need a larger picture.
What kind of tank is it? ..size, etc? need details. What fish are in the tank? What plants? How often do you change the water?

It's a 25 gallon tank with 6 fish. 4 tetra's and 2 platies. It's a clean tank - I try to change the water every few weeks.

One live plant and a couple of fake ones.

Hope that helps. I tried to post a larger picture but the site inly alows up to a cirtain size...

Use photobucket.com or imageshack.us to attach a larger pic - these are free sites.

I had some of that in my tank for a few days. It disappeared after I did a water change. No idea what it is.

You might want to step up the water change routine a tad. "Every few weeks" really isn't enough to maintain a tank with fish in it. The majority of people here advocate a 25% every week. Some of us do 50% a week. It's essential to ensure that your tank's water parameters stay as close to your source of water as much as possible.

'Sides, fish like fresh water. Makes them happy :)

I've been dealing with that also. I seem to have slowed it down by upping the CO2, but I'm also doing 50-75% water changes every few days.
I think it might be some form of staghorn, but that's the result of only a little research. I'm guessing that because of the white color, or lack of chlorophyll.

It looks like you might have some beard/brush algae also. That can be remedied by increasing the CO2 concentration also, according to the more experienced aquarists.

Good luck with that and if you get rid of it, keep us posted!
