Hi,
I have a 55gallon with ~1W/G lighting. Will most Anubias species grow in my tank?
Thanks,
Chuck
P.S. My substrate is just gravel and I will not be using CO2.

Most if not all anubias species will grow in your tank. They aren't a very demanding plant.
Just FYI, many anubias species do not require a substrate to grow in. They can be attached to pieces of driftwood, rock, etc. as well.

anubias are ideal in low lighting tanks, as are java fern and java moss. you could also try vallis, ludwigia and creeping jenny. avoid plants such as swords which require high light levels. if you buy a plant collection they usually contain plants that are not too demanding, and give you plenty to try out in your tank. when you find those that work well, then their the ones 2 stick with. hope this helps.
