SAE coloration

Does anybodies SAE lose its black stripe at night? Often when I come home late the black stripe has faded considerably, only to return in the morning. He is well fed off algae disks and flake food, and the water parameters are all normal. He's in a 20 gallon with some plants, 2 platies, 3 danios, and a cory. Let me know any suggestions because I know that they can lose their stripe when they become stressed. Maybe he's scared of the dark? haha
 
Some fish will change color due to the lighting, I know my neons are always a bit more pale than normal when I first turn the light on in the morning. As long as he doesn't seem stressed, and your water is good, I wouldn't worry about it.....I would suggest another couple of corys though, they'll appreciate the company :thm:
 
I've seen the same effect in my gouramies afeter the lights have been off for sometime. If I don't turen on the lights, they will not display their color.

As Holy said, cory are not meant to be alone. I had a lonely cory in a tank until yesterday. I added two more and they grouped quite quickly.
 
I thought that I read sae's shouldn't be kept in schools for a tank of my size? They were supposed to be aggressive towards each other. Let me know if I'm wrong because I'd love to get another. Yea I gave my cory to a friend's tank who already had a few due to a possible theme change in mine so he's in a good school now. Anyways I'm going to check in on that sae info...
