Ok, so sometime next year, I'm going to get a 90- 125 US gallon tank. Now, I'd really like to be a mbuma cichlid tank, but I have a few questions.

I know Electric Blues (Sciaenochromis ahli) can be agressive, can I house them with Electric Yellows (Labidochromis caeruleus)?

I really want Electric Yellows (Labidochromis caeruleus), what can I house them with? I'd really like some Peacock Cichlids, Zebra Cichlids, and Compressiceps Cichlids (Dimidiochromis compressiceps). Will any of those work with Electric Yellows?

Thank you

You have a range of cichlids there, with different diet and aggression levels.

I suggest picking either mbuna or haps, especially if your begining out. Maybe stick with mbuna, if thats what you want.

Its not so much the aggression (especially in a larger tank) its the diet. You'll have to somehow make sure the mbuna dont get too much protien but the haps get enough. ;)

It sounds like you want yellow labs pretty bad.... so i suggest working around them. They are, however, on the less-aggressive side and you might have difficultly keeping more aggressive mbuna with them.

Have a look through the articles and stocking recipes on: http://www.malawimayhem.com

Ok, just because I am a newbie, don't make me figure this stuff out on my own. I have a fish website and am on anothe fish website and they do not give links, they can at least quote. I personally don't like it. So what will go with Electric yellows. That site gave me nothing. I prefer http://www.liveaquaria.com

It happens to be one of the largest malawi cichlid sites out there.... but whatever. I love to help people and give advice, but some people think they should just be told what to do and dont have to figure anything out on thier own. This is a learning experience, if you cant do your own research you shouldnt be keeping fish.

Because you ARE a newbie you should be figuring stuff out on your own. No one is gonna hold your hand and pick your fish for you. I gave you some suggestions, and you still want everything done for you. Do you know how many hundreds of species of malawi cichlids there are out there?

Do you want a general tank recipie list? Or do you want me to go through each species of malawi cichlid and tell you what can go with yellow labs?

You cant say one species WILL work and another WILL NOT work. They each have individual temperments.... nothing is to say for sure.

Are you willing to try to feed different things to different fish or do you want to just feed one or two foods to the tank and keep it at that?

Quite frankly, we cant help you until you tell us what YOU want. And in order to do that you need to learn the most about these fish as you can.

just because you are a newbie does not mean we have to do all the work for you nor will we....in fact your attitude will DISCOURAGE people from helping you! So grow up a little and do a little research for yourself.

And this has to do with what? I don't really happen to care. Guys, I'm more of an Anabantoid person. I take care of bettas, gouramis, and all those kind of fish. I don't know anything when it comes to African Cichlids. I'd like to start a cichlid tank.Oh, and the person that gave me the link to that cichlid section of the site, it only had one of the cichlids I mentioned, very resourceful, but not what I needed.

Now that is real discouraging. I do my own research, but googe and yahoo never helps me. Have you even seen my website. Just check it out

Frankly, I dont care about your website. I have my OWN betta website, not to mention about 5 others. I keep all sorts of fish. When I was going into Africans I did all the research myself. I looked up different fish not only to see what they would look like, but what thier temperment, diet and needed tank size was. Only after I had the list of fish I wanted did I make sure they would be okay. And what do you know, because I did my research everything was compatible.

Even if you looked through that liveaquaria.com (which IMO is not that accurate with africans), you would get your own answers. You seem to be basing your tank mates on aggression... but your not, because if you were doing that then you'd know most of those fish wont work.

Based on the fish you originally posted, and your previous responses, you clearly have not done enough research.

Do you want a cookie-cutter tank setup list? Had you actually spent time on Malawi Mayhem you would have found it. http://www.malawimayhem.com/articles_tank_recipes.shtml

See! That is what I could not find! That is why I was mad! All I was looking at was species profile! I couldn't find it. I thought it would be under that. And, frankly, I don't care that you have five fish websites.

And did you even read my first post. I said:
I'd really like it to be a mbuma cichlid tank

I never said it would be. I'm still debating over a few things I want it to be.
