how long before they come back out

I just picked uyp a green star polyp today, it was then transported 280 miles, I was just wondering how long it takes for the green things to come back out of their "shells"
 
GSP's are tough, pretty hard to hurt them. Becareful where you put them tho, mine has taken over about a quarter of the tank in my 10G and is spreading at a rate of about an 2 cm a month in all directions, climbing up rocks, overrunning some button polyps, approaching a rogue aiptasia. I wonder if they can overrun the aiptasia. Anyways, dont put them near any areas you dont want GSP's all over.
 
alright, ehre's what happened, I did not know that gsp's "hid" at night, so when they were in the cooler, they just went into night time mode, they do it every night in my tank and come out every morning, hehe...my bad, they were out the next day when the lights turned on
