i want to change my money pit saltwater tank to a freshwater tank. My question is, can i take my heater and filter that was used in my saltwater tank, and use it as a freshwater filter and heater, after i clean it out. The filter is just a plain aquaclear 150 and the heater is some heater, nothing special.

thanks

Wash em off and I dont see why not

though if you have any marine equipment I am looking for some :dog: :bday:

Give it a good clean. Be sure to eliminate any residue that may have stuck to the silicone that hold the glass.

About the filter, you should discard all the media and buy a new one. After that, remeber to cycle your tank again.

thanks for the quick reply.

i have an old powerhead for sale! lol.

i really like this tank, just dont have enough money to keep pouring into the tank

I mean more in the lines of rock and such

buy a new filter, or new media?

new media, filters fine media isnt :duh:

Sorry for lack of explanation. Change the media. If the filter still runs, you can reuse it.

all a filter is, is a water pump pusing water through your filter
