im emptying out my saltwater tank and converting it to a freshwater tank. Should i leave it empty for an extended period of time to let any bacteria or anything die? and if so how long.

was there an outbreak of disease or something like that? if not just empty it out and rinse it (if possible). fill it and change the water a few times to get rid of the salt residue. Then its wait for the tank to cycle time. Good luck

if you want to kill everything in it just use a water and bleach solution then use lots of dechlorinizer to remove the bleach.

there was no outbreak of disease,i just dont feel like pouring tons of money into my sw tank.so im converting to fw. i just didnt know if any sw pods or bacteria would be harmful to fw. ill scrub it really good, and let it stay empty for a day. thanks for all the replies
