Arrow cichlids(amphilophus zaliosus)

Have any of you guys have any experience with these? Pictures will be much appreciated... I am planning in ordering some...

It is hard to say but when searching for Arrow Cichlid and Amphilophus Zaliosus – it looks like a Convict cichlid. I am not sure if that is an old scientific name for a Convicts or a whole different fish. Jeff Rapps got a bunch of pictures on his website, would be a good idea to email him

Amphilophus Zaliosus – it looks like a Convict cichlid.


The Amphilophus is considerably larger (about 10") than the convicts (5"). But never kept them myself.

Speaking of Rapp, has anyone purchased his fish? He's not too far from me, I could probably arrange to pick-up.

Yep, they do look like a larger convict... i was interested with them because of the little article that i have read that claimed that they are the meanest of all the Red Devil complex... Thanks for all the replies though...

I have ordered from him... One word to describe him, professional... He is very helpful and true to his words, lets just say, "he is more for the hobby and not for the money"... Lucky for you because he does deliveries too, as of me, i had to pay $80 in shipping :eek: Its all worth it though, very satisfied!

Thanks for the site!!! The picture that the one member had looked exactly like my amphilophus amarillo only mine has a faint dab of yellow... interesting... they might have been the same fish, that had a slight color change...
