Just got some Java Fern...

I've had these for over a week now. They seem to be doing fairly well. But I noticed the other day they had some sort of buds on the leaves. Those buds now have roots sprouting from them.
Could someone tell me what this is?

Java Ferns grow little plantlets on the mature leaves.

I was worried I had some freak plants or something...
Will they detach by themselves?

I've never let them get big enough to see. :) I pull them off before they start to weight the leaf down too much. They come off pretty easily. The leaf is pretty old by then so I don't worry too much if it tears a little.
