hello all, i am new to the marine deal so any help would be appreciated. I have been reading a lot on the internet about upkeep maintanence and watnot but ide like to hear a few things from knowledgeable people. So, this guy comes into the fishroom (store) today and asks ''will u guys buy my 48 bowfront set-up?". I responded no we dont buy back aquariums but i will. So the guy says ok 200 bucks (WOW!!!!). Ok so, these are the specs, 48 g bowfront(7 years running), bio wheel filter(not + of size yet), appropriate heater,, 30 pounds of liverock, fluval protein skimmer, 3 perkula clowns, and 1 striped damsel. Im not sure about the 2 light strips...I was lookin for suggestions on bulb type because he says they need to be changed.

So, i am wondering what the maintanence will be like. I only have experience with african cichlids so im new to the saltwater deal. also im wondering what other fish i can put in. what does every think of me adding a bubble tip aneneme? also what fish eats these bristle worm things?

If I were you, I'd wait to get an anemone until you have intense lights --ie MH-- and more experience. Be sure to buy a hydrometer for your water changes.

You can buy traps to catch bristleworms, but often bristleworms are a valuble part of your cleanup crew.

ok cool...thanks a lot
is it very hard to mix the saltwater for a beginner?
and yes, i will wait until i have more experience to get an anenome.
thanks again

it's easy: just get a dedicated 5 gal. bucket, fill it with R/O water, add your salt (I use 2 1/2 cups Instant Ocean), add a heater and air stone to mix for 2 or 3 hours, put in a floating thermometer, check the S.G. with a hydrometer or refractometer, and adjust if necessary. :read:
The most important thing is to read to learn about SW, I mean besides This wonderful place!
