I'm trying to find out what type of fish it is for my girlfriend for a gift. The pic should be attached as penelope.gif Thanks for the help.

whatever it is (perhaps a balloon molly?), it's man made, dyed that color and will live a short, unhappy life. don't buy it.

I think that, is a pearl scale goldfish. Ballon mollies dont look like that too.

I didn't see any online, I saw them at a lfs.....odd looking ram..was just the same coloring of a german blue ram, but looked more like one of those round goldfish in it's shape...didn't appeal to me at all....and I LOVE rams !

Here's a pic I found online....

Ah so its dyed? I didn't think it was dyed, dye on animal should have never been done! Especially when they dye blood parrot, thats really dumb and cruel act...

Arent most blood parrots dyed? They are naturally a brownish/grey color when they arent dyed? Thats what I thought....

No, I would say most are not dyed. BPs go through a color transformation similar to A. citrinellus going from juvie colors to orange adults. Anytime you see a purple, pink or green BP however, be assured, they are dyed.

Not all pink are dyed, most of them occur naturally, like mine. :)

Well, as "natural" as a blood parrot can be. ;)

What sort of tank does your girlfriend have? Maybe people here will have better suggestions of what might be compatible.

When I said pink... I ment pink... your BP is far from the color I am talking about, which IS GOOD! haha. If you have seen the so called "jelly bean" parrots you would know exactly what I was talking about.

yeah, it sometimes turns red when getting ready to lay egg or fighting against other fish.
