is my tank fully stocked?

its a 10 gallon, and contains 4 glowlight tetras, one red honey gourami, and a mystery apple snail.

the reason i ask is that i'm still not 100% on if my honey gourami is a male or a female. i would like to have a pair. if the one i have ends up being a female, could i add a male? or if the one i have really is a male, should i happen to be lucky enough to find a female, could i add her?

even if i had to pull out the snail to lessen the bioload, i could. he can go back into my parents pond in the spring, or by then i should have a 5 or 7 gallon hex for my betta that i could put him in too.

And again the rescued snail. I feel like I know that guy for the times he is been in the forum. Give us a pic of him. I'd like to see him. :D :D :D

Well, about stocking, a 10 gallon not good for a single gourami. I think you honey gourami can grow to 3-4 inches.

They eat a lot and poop a lot too. Maybe 2 in a 20 gallon will be fine along with the tetras, but a 10 is not enough... (put some James Bond background music).

actually, honeys max out at 2 inches, but rarely get more than 1.75. they're one of the smallest gouramis, next to chocolate, sparkling, and licorice gouramis.

You are right. Maybe at 2 inch max, you could throw another one and get to the stocking limit of that tank.

However, the bigger the better. For that stock you have, a 20 would be really neat. Imagine a planted background, the 2 gouramies, the tetras and a couple of small corys. And 911 snail too. ;)

yeah. i'll either just leave it like it is, or wait until i can get a 20 gallon set up. i have two, one long and one tall, but no hood, light, filter, or heater for either. the tall is empty and the long has hermit crabs in it, but if i had a hood and everything for the 20's, the hermit crabs could easily go in the 10 gallon.

For the last 2 days, I've seen a "moron buying fish" thread around the forum and there was one post that talked about hermit crab's requirements. I think it said a 10 gallos is not big enough. Can't really recall.

that was my post, lol. i actually said that nothing SMALLER than a 10 gallon should be used. i have 5 small hermit crabs, they'll be fine in a 10 gallon

ahhhhhhhhhhhh! :bowing:
