I recently submitted a post on my water quality in my fry tank but didn't get much of a response so here goes i can't get my waters nitrite down to 0ppm in my fry tank its either 0.25ppm or not quite 0ppm what i would like to know is will these levels harm the fry as uptill now they seem to be doing ok and are growing and colouring quite rapidly. Did you test your tap water?
What kind of test kits are you using? Sometimes there is a margin of error.

I am using the API freshwater test kit and my tap water reads 0ppm across the board the tank is only a 22ltr tank. Cheers, Derek.

The fish are probably use to the nitirite level already... As long as your not adding fish that came out of 0ppm water you should be OK.... Maybe the tank hasn't fully cycled yet..
I've had tanks that seemed to be stuck with 0 ammonia and .5ppm nitrite and 0 nitrates...

The fish that had been in the tank from teh beginning are fine but it might kill new fish from teh shock...
Fish do not "adjust" to the presence of detectable nitrite in the water. It is always toxic.

We need to figure out why your biofilter in that tank isn't picking up the slack. Any use of ammonia chips/zeolite, anti-biotics, chlorinated water. Remind me what kind of filter, and how long has it been maturing?

Might it have somthing to do with the fry being so small they are not producing enough waste to feed the bacteria, and is halting the cycle?

I thought that about the fry being so small but i have only been keeping fish for about 7 months so i am still learning i also read that you can keep fry without a filter as long as you do partial water changes every day but again not sure on that one. My filter is the Rena iv1 with two rena stars placed in the middle of the foam for the bacteria to colonise on i don't use any ammonia chips/zeolite or anything that alters the chemistry of the water except for coral sand as it buffers the ph upto about 8.2ppm, every time i do a water change i add tetra's Aquasafe but one thing i don't do is heat up the water but surely that won't make any difference.

Is it possible to add additional media from an established tank (like a couple more of those Rena bio-chem stars)?
