Can I use Bioballs from a salt tank?

Since I just bought a used wet/dry that was used for a salt tank about a year ago, am I able to reuse the bio balls for a fresh tank after numerous rinsings?
 
Yep, no problems there. I'd probably soak them in hotwater and oxiclean to remove any remaining detritus, but honestly, other than decaying organics, a good rinse in water will remove any lingering salt, and there isn't much else that would be introduced to a FW tank from SW bio-balls.

Make sure you have a good pre-filter ahead of the sump--this will minimize the solid wastes that get trapped in the bio-balls.
 
Well rinsed bioballs can be used, Tha hard part is to rinse all the hidden parts of the balls. Give it a good wash and then wash them again.

But, if you can afford it, I'd go for new ones.

Ohhh yeah I also forgot about the tank...Any advice other then rinsing for that too???
 
Hotwater and oxiclean, soak, rinse, dry. :) Oxiclean rinses clean easily, and will take care of any organic residues in the system.
 
Also, you could use chlorine based bleach. Rub the glass, seals and corners with a 1-10 solution. Then, rinse, rinse and finally fill it and add a lot of dechlorinator. Let it sit for a while and drain.

Just another way for doing it, in case you have no oxiclean at hand. Never tried that, though.

*** I wonder how much Oriongirl gets everytime she advertises Oxiclean in this forum... :confused: :p:
