I am starting to feel better about my seagrass tank, now that the cyano has crashed and the plants are growing, but it has been an experience. It's a lot like a FW planted tank, but some of the rules are definitely different. Anyway, I would love to see another person growing "real" SW plants.

One issue is tank height. The plants will want a deep substrate, and the SHs will want at least double their height to be happy. That's why I went with the 30 Xtall for my setup. I guess pipefish won't have this problem.

HMMM. I'm still doing the study on this but I lean to the pipefish and seahorse tank.
Do you have a pic of the tank. I'd love to see that! I think I'll just use macro algae on live rock, spaghetti algae or turtle grass. I'm looking up the sea grasses now :)

I just got this bit of spam in my email this morning. A very nice article by a local seagrass guru: Marine Depot Seagrass (http://http://www.marinedepot.com/aquarium_marine_depot_educational_newsletter_artic les_lardizabal_plants_for_the_marine_aquarist.asp? ast=NL121405A05&key=). She goes by Samala on some other sites. Good read.

Here's a thread about my tank: http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58516&page=1&pp=15
I had planned to update it last night, but my home computer is currently non-functional. The update is pretty simple: added a powerhead and dosed nitrate, and the cyano is dying off. Maybe tonight...

If you want to reduce the hassle, macroalgae like caulerpa, chaeto, botryocladia or sargassum may be the way to go.

Well, I certainly hope you know you've started something now lol!!!!!

The thirty gallon tall is the way to go, so maybe I can trade my fairly new long tank up for a tall one :)

Converting another tank? Hehe, it's addictive, isn't it? I'd go for the pipefish/horses, that would be a really interesting and uncommon tank :)

Too late to vote, but I'd do a Fu Manchu. I love preds, and lionfish are some of my favorites.

I luv lionfish too Freddy, but I think eventually, my 66g long will house a fuzzy dwarf lionfish and some of those colorful but so evil damsels lol.
I'm going seahorse and pipefish. It will be a challenge but I think I'm up to it :)

I guess you'll get the best of both worlds. :)
