I have recently purchased a few elodea plants, which have been in my tank for around two weeks. These plants looked extremely gorgeous until the past day or two when the leaves started getting a bunch of holes in them and then started to break off. First i thought this was caused from the water flow of the filter, but then the other plants not under the filter started doing the same thing. I have two 25w lights on my 10G tank, and I have been using aquatic fertilizer and apply aquarium salt into my tank, does the salt kills the plants by any chance?

If you have any idea as to why my plants are losing leaves like this please tell me, thanks.

Yes, salt can kill plants if used on a regular basis, though the elodea (I assume anacharis?) should be tolerant of some salt. Why are you using salt in the first place?

Also, what kinds of ferts are you using? It sounds like there may be a potassium deficiency if the salt isn't killing the plants.

using salt to clear the little amount of black on my goldfish's fins that is left, most of it is gone now, and i will cease use if it is killing my plants.
