I am working on cycling another 10g tank. I haven't added ammonia yet. I set the tank up a week ago and filled it up with water. My equipment is used, but clean. A two days ago I saw little worms in the water and than yesterday the water got all cloudy. Today I can see small fish that look like fry in the water. I don't think that they are mosquito larvae, but I haven't added any fish and I have no clue what they could be. Does anyone have any idea how they got there and what they are. I think I am going to drain the tank, but I want to know what these little things are first.

pics would help?

When you filled it with water, where from? Another tank? Do you have another tank? Long shot, not knowing your answers, but I did that once, syphoned water from another tank into a plant holding tank and soon there were baby zebra danios.

No I didn't take any water from another tank(I do have MANY other tanks), but now that I think of it I did put a filter cartridge in there to help start the cycling. The tank I took the cartridge out of has Guppies, Platies, a molly, a moonlight Gourami, two cories, an algae eater, and some ghost shrimp. The fry look like small guppy fry(smaller than average guppy fry). I don't think I can get any decent pics because the water is so cloudy

If you put in filter media from another tank, than there is no nead to cycle. You just added all the bacteria that you would be trying to grow by cycling. You have to add fish right away though or the bacteria will die with no fish waste to eat. Guppy fry sounds possible, what about baby ghost shrimp?

I know what guppy fry look like, and they are not guppy fry.

I noticed small worm like things in the bottom corners of my tank a few months back. They are really tiny and I couldnt get a pic of them when I was trying to describe them to my LFS. They just suggested Rud Ich+ and said it would get rid of most parasites/dinoflag/protozoans... so I removed my carbon and tryed it and within 3 days they were gone and have not come back in a couple months. I would still like to know what they were though....

I might try that. I think it will just be better for me to boil all of the stuff in my tank and wash the tank with a bleach solution. In other words sanitise everything.
