This is funny I just set up a 55 long for my african cichlids and was get ready to move my cichlids from my 90 to the 55 when my Mbunas breed.I would like to know if moving my cichlid with eggs in her mouth would cuase her harm? I'm not worried about the fry becuase I was setting my 90 gallon tank up for 1 albino red oscar and 1 blue jack dempsey 1 red jack dempsey, and 1 tiger oscar. I've kept fish sense the age of 5 I'm 30 now.I've had breedin oscars and convicts and a pink and regular jack dempsey. this is my first african cichlid breeding pair. and move them caused no harm to them or there fry. as long as I let water cycle and let boifilter setup with fish. I use small feeds to setup my boifilter as well as live plants and med range common pleco.

If you have any info that my help pleae let me know. My breeding pair of Mbunas are a blue undertone with rusty orange uotline on the scales with rust orange spots on the fins and black sploctches everywhere this is female. male is albino pseudo something .

When my female is holding I remover her from the big tank to the small holding tank until she spits. I net her and put her in a large bowl with tank water and move her to the other tank that way. I just dump her in since the tank water is the same. If I were to net her and carry her over to the tank in the net, it might stress her out and she could spit out the eggs. Maybe she wouldn't, but I'm not going to risk it.
