Okay, I have a small 10 gallon tank on my desk, and it's empty. I was wondering if there are any super aggressive carnivorous fish that can live alone in there for a while. Something that would feast on feeder guppies. Anyone have any ideas as to what to put in there?

Ummm It wouldnt feed on feeder guppys but a dwarf puffer feeds on snails, ghost shrimp... Execellent hunters. very fun to watch.

How about Pacus and Arowanas? (KIDDING!!!) There's nothing dramatically carnivorous that could fit in that size tank. Get a bigger tank and use the 10 to keep your feeder guppies in. :thud:

Maybe an Exodon? Like a little P from how I have seen them in a shoal, don't know about keeping them individually though.

Actually, maybe a single African Butterfly fish might work. Though a 10g might be a little on the small side. A 15-20g would be better. But that's about the only fish I can really think of that fits what you're looking for. Feed it live insects/crickets rather than feeder guppies...unless you're raising your own guppy fry and know them to be disease free. Butterfly fish naturally feed on insects that fly over and/or fall into the water. I had one that loved moths. Crickets are a good staple food...especially if you feed/gut-pack the crickets with fishfood flakes and/or something like 'cyclop-eeze.'

10 gal carnivor

I had a 10 gal brackish(1 tsp/gal) with 2 bumble gobys, guppys, and a live bearer called a Belonesox belizanus(pike livebearer). The pike would stay at the top until food was in the tank and then very quick he would dart after feeder guppies. He would eat about a dozen a week.
