sand it freshwater tanks with magnet impelers good or bad

Well its on the subject of sand in freshwater tanks would it matter if i have 2 magnum 350 for filteration if i used sand? cuse i read that it get cought and even score up my impellers on my magnums. is this true. i have a 100 gallon tank with 2 oscars.

If I were you I would get some prefilters on those filters. Just take something like an Aquaclear sponge, make a slit in it and place it over the intake of the filter. Clean as you would with other filters media, but it will also help keep larger particles out of your filter impellors.

The impellers are replaceable. Abrading the impeller housing means replacing the unit. Not in my fish tanks.
