Hello, I am getting down to crunch time and I need to start putting my whole tank together, I was just wondering if I should put my heater towards the center of the tank, or one side of the tank? Keep in mind that its a 55g tank so it's long. It's a 300w heater. Anyway, gimme some feedback please! Thanks in advance!
P.S. - Does it even matter where I put it?

Not sure what you're planning on using for filteration --
I intend on using two filters on either end of my 75gs. Two heaters situated beside the outflow of each one so that the heated water is pushed out into the tank.
Not sure if outflow or intake is better in this regard.
But always a good idea to situate the heater near the filter so that there is adequate water movement that will distribute the heated water around the tank.

Ditto the suggestion for 2 smaller heaters. In my 16g tank, I have a 25w positioned horizontally near the bottom, just above a "bubble wand", which provides good circulation around the heater (the HOB filter is in this general vicinity as well). A 50w is positioned on the other side of the tank, vertically, near the output of a very small internal filter that I run as well.
