Hello everyone, let me give you the run down on my freshwater aquarium.

Tank Size- 40gallons.
Heated
Filtered
4 artificial plants, 1 rock, 1 piece of driftwood.

Fish: 2 pleco's, 1 is 6 inchs other is an inch and a half.
1- 5 inch emperor iridescent shark
1- 4 inch appolo shark
1- small green terror ( newly aquired)
1- jack dempsy ( newly aquired)

ok basically this is what is happening, i ran out of food for my sharks, and i have pellots for my cichlids, ( which they rarely eat)i went to walmart all they had left was koi pellots and flake food, which i did not purchase. I didnt want my fish to die of starvation or anythinng so i went to the local super market and bought frozen salad shrimp, i ran them under warm water for a couple minutes and broke them into small pieces and put them in my fish tank. All my fish ate them, is this ok? should i be feeding my fish this? what should i be feeding them if not?

Thanks , Don.

Yep that shrimp will probebly be fine as an occational snack for them.... an expensive one ;) I wouldnt make it a solid diet though.

Also can resist the urge to tell you that ID shark needs a VERY large tank.... 500 gallons probebly at the least. Already at 5" it should be in a 100 gallon....

Most fish can live 1-2weeks without food. Have you tried other types of pellets? Maybe try frozen foods or live foods.
