I have recently added an emerald crab to my 10g live rock setup. The tank has tons of hair algae and cyano, and my hermit crabs aren't keeping up. The emerald crab has already mowed down a significant amount of algae.

My questions are:
1. Once the crab has reduced the algae enough I might transfer it to my larger FOWLR setup. In that tank I have a camel shrimp and I was wondering if the crab and shrimp would be compatible or not.
2. When I added the camel shrimp to my other tank it ate a fairly good size leafy green algae (maybe ulva?), so I was wondering if this shrimp would eat the hair algae and cyano as well.

Thanks for any input!

emerald crabs can get aggresive towards fish and other inverts, i would not put him in that tank, also they are unsuitable for reef set-ups and may eat some of your corals.

I had 2 emeralds that did a great job of controlling some algae and detrimis but they were quite mean, attacking hermits, snails, shrimp and fish whenever they got close enough. Not all emeralds turn aggressive but these 2 did so I eventually traded them in to the lfs for credit. It's too bad too because they were cool critters but the bigger they got the more aggressive they became.
