I got a couple of Chocolate Cats, aka raphiels, mind you they are pretty darn big, they wont leave the heater alone, I move it around the tank and they keep digging under it and sleeping there I assume, I am worried because they have lost scales on the dorsal side and I dont know how to keep them out of there, I have been reducing the temp slowly so I can take it out but some of the other fish need it too but how do I keep them away??! this is one of them, They are big and I think beautiful and I want to keep them but I am at a loss to know what they are thinking!

You need more hiding spots. I have two striped raphael's like yours and they do nothing but hide. If they do not have adequate hiding spots they will try to hide behind the heater. This can utlimately cause very severe burning or even kill them.

I recommend some driftwood or fake driftwood or something to give them cover.

Oh, also try keeping the heater towards the top of the tank, this will discourage them from hiding there.

that was an old picture, I have driftwood in there, one hides in it and the other one dosnt seem to understand. I moved the heater up as far as I dare without risking a burnout. it keeps going to the %*@# thing...
