All of a sudden, my 2 bumblebee's appear to have some sort of stringy fungus on them...

they aren't eating or swimming as they usually would either...

oddly enough, the other 4 fish in the tank seem to be showing BETTER coloring and increased assertiveness than before, with this change occuring at the same time the Bumblebee's became sick. (they other fish used to hide mostly)

what to do...?

you might want to post this in the catfish/bottom feeder forum.

nah...

to update though,

the one bumblebee, the 2 other cichlids, and the 2 jewels are fine now.......but the male bumblebee (my favorite fish!!) looks like he's about had it.

He's in a hospital tank now, we're trying medication. He's been belly up though all day, unable to turn himself around. =(

what medication are you using, because your cichlid probably has dropsy which would explain him floating upside down as this disease effects its boyancy, so you should try treatments which ty to cure this
good luck hope he gets better.

it's an anti bacterial med...

it says it works for dropsy on the label!

do you think there's any chance the fish will survive?? or does the upside down floating mean he's too far gone??

from what i;ve seen fish rarely recover when they start floating upside down ,but you never know he might hold on and pull through keep your fingers crossed and your toes.

thanks for all the info...

unfortunately the male was a goner (in hospital tank) when I woke up this morning....

the other fish in his regular tank are also being treated, just in case, and seem okay.....except for the female bumblebee who isn't eating and has poor coloring.
