Wobbly Tank

I have heard the suggestion that on thick carpet it is best to have the carpet removed and edged so the tank can sit on hard wood or linoleum, especially with tank stands that have a complete flat bottom piece instead of just legs that can dig into the carpet.

It would depend on the type of wall its sitting against, along with the kind of stand its sitting on. Is the tank sitting right against the wall (make sure you provide room in back for any equipment you plan on hanging there)?

Your best bet is to probably go to your local hardware store and give them the specifics of what you are trying to do.

I would hate to give you advice not really knowing what your dealing with.

If you have a rectangle tank, long and skinny, then it could very well be top heavy. Keep in mind, in most setups, 85% of the weight is in the water. If you have children in the house, and your tank has a wobble, this could be a very dangerous situation. I would recommend anchoring the stand to the wall to give added stability, like in a previous post, your local Home Depot or Lowes could probably help you figure out what to use to accomplish this.
