Wobbly Tank

I have a 50 gallon saltwater tank. I bought it and the stand as a package. I have the thing set up on carpet and it seems to be a little wobbly. I can push hard on it and push the stand back against the wall.

Any ideas? Is this normal? I have seen other reports of anchoring it against a wall. How do you do this?

It would depend on the type of wall its sitting against, along with the kind of stand its sitting on. Is the tank sitting right against the wall (make sure you provide room in back for any equipment you plan on hanging there)?

Your best bet is to probably go to your local hardware store and give them the specifics of what you are trying to do.

I would hate to give you advice not really knowing what your dealing with.

If you have a rectangle tank, long and skinny, then it could very well be top heavy. Keep in mind, in most setups, 85% of the weight is in the water. If you have children in the house, and your tank has a wobble, this could be a very dangerous situation. I would recommend anchoring the stand to the wall to give added stability, like in a previous post, your local Home Depot or Lowes could probably help you figure out what to use to accomplish this.
