I bought 2 female bettas 2 days ago and added them in with a female betta I have had for a couple weeks now. One of them is doing great but one is not. I am really worried because I believe she is depressed. She is spending most of her time on the bottom, mopeing around and displaying clamped fins. I've heard that bettas can get really depressed and starve themselves becuase of this. I was thinking about moving her to her own tank but I am worried this would just cause her more stress. Should I move her anyway? Any other suggestions on how to help her out of her rut would be appreaciated! Thanks!

I would suggest that, some betta can be aggresive twords one another, It could be a dominance thing,

whatever the decision, bettas need comfortable access to the surface of the tank. do what you need to. her demeanor is depressed because her natural processes are depressed.

Tank size? Water perameters? (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, temp?)

Tank parameters: ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrates 10, temp 78*, 5 gallon tank. She has more than enough access to the top of the water, and it has plenty of plants and caves for her to hide in.

There could be something more to this...Either stress from the move or stress from an illness...Bettas will not starve themselves to death...May go off their food for a day, but it takes about 6 weeks for them to starve to death.
The clamped fins has me a bit worried...Keep an eye on her.

She'll clamp them and unclamp them, and there are no outward signs of illness, no scales popping off, no worms, no ich, nothing. hoping it's stress from the move....
