View Full Version : Mixing Cory Catfish
I currently have 1 albino cory and want to add more as I hear they like a group. Does this mean they like groups of other albinos or would he be just as happy with a bronze cory, which is the same species of course. I don't know how picky they are.
Thanks:)
IMHO, albinos are quite independent & happy with others regardless of species.

like tends to shoal with like. stripes with stripes, spots with spots, etc. the bronze and the albino are really the same species and they'll probably shoal and might breed.
good luck
:)
Well I ended up mixing a peppered cory, bronze and albino cory. So far everyone is very happy and getting along. I would cram more in but it is just a 10 gallon tank so that is it (plus the 6 minnows).
Thanks

How did the cory do buy itself? I have a small tank and wanted to get some, but do not have the room for 6 or more.
Wow, that was an old thread. But needless to say everyone is still alive and happy. The albino bronze and bronze have had 5 lovely children and the peppered is still a valued member of their family. They are now in a 29 gallon tank and have adopted a flying fox into the family as well (kind of weird).

What colour did the children end up?
All bronze, no albinos. Hundreds of eggs have been laid but just the 5 successful fertilizations from 2 different batches. Cute little fellas as well. The mom (albino) is also sightless as she was born with no eyes. She is a survivor though and can even tell when old peppered cory is trying to mate and when the bronze fella is.She has no patience for the peppered cory and his advances.

If you try to breed an albino with anything but an albino, the odds are almost always in favor of non-albino offspring. Occasionally there are some which buck the trend and turn out albino but to guarantee albino offsping, you need two albino parents.
My albinos have laid eggs a few times but at the time, I had no sexually mature males to fertilize them and now that I do, they won't. :p:
