so apparently one or several fish in my tank have started eating my plants .. does not make me happy after all it took to get them in there and looking right .. whichever it is, is eating through the stem of a sword (tall one brazillian i think)
any ideas which it would be?
pleco?
cory cat?
barbs? (tiger, green, albino)

the plec might be doing the damage inadvertently through rasping for algae... especially if its a larger one.
maybe try some algae wafers to suppliment, if you don't already. plecs just love 'em.
i suppose the barbs might be, but who knows?

i've been dropping in cucumber twice a week which the pleco is loving by the way .. also algae tablets several times a week
i haven't actually seen any of them doing it so i would assume its the pleco at night .. that bum is gonna go if he keeps it up

Most likey Mr. Pleco...There isnt alot of nutritional value in cucumbers...Try zucchini instead...Steam or boil it until soft and toss it in... Zucchinni is pretty inexpesive and I used to buy them and differnet squashes in bulk...Slice and cook , then individually wrap and throw in the freezer...Toss a frozen chunk in and you are done...Beats cooking every day!

It worked pretty well for me and my Pleco loved it...Grew to 18 inches in 18 months! Squash is really cheap and it freezes up really well...

My pleco prefers zucchini to cucumbers. He actually shreds the zucchini down through the rind. Cucumbers, he just nibbles at the soft stuff. His normal diet is algae tabs and spirulina tabs....both of which he loves. I give him two of each every night, and they are gone within an hour or two.
I had an Amazon sword with him for a while, but he'd gnaw through the broad leaves....and break the stems from trying to hang onto them.
I can't imagine any of your other fish harming a plant.

I feed zucchini raw. Just wrap a plant weight on a chunk and toss it in. The Elec.Labs cichlids love it.

You have 3 barbs, all of different type? Barbs need to run in schools to limit their aggression. 4-5+ of each type is recommended I believe.
