Another MS Word problem.

I have a document that starts out with a title page, then a signature page, then a page with a Table of Contents. This document was created by some unknown user and is currently being updated by me. The table of contents was updated pretty extensively. Everything was finished and looked great. When I go to print the document to my desktop printer or ever throw it into distiller for adobe, the TOC reverts to the previously saved TOC. I tried renaming the document, saving the document again, reprogramming the font, looking over the page setup and such..... nothing works. It always reverts to the previous owner's document. Any ideas?

I would try opening a brand new word document, and either copying and pasting the TOC onto a new page, or re-typing it as if it was a brand new document. Then you could print the entire document together, print the TOC separate and just add it in there when you're done. Word has done some funky things to me before too, and starting all over seemed to work for me.

...did that make sense?

If document revision tracking is turned on, you may not be editing on the final draft. ? Turn tracking on, or make sure to select "Final Showing Markup" in the "Reviewing" toolbar.

Also, if the template is old, there may be a hidden TOC field code. Try turning on field codes and checking if there is strange text in brackets near the header of your new TOC. (Tools menu/ Options menu/ "View" tab/ put a check in the "Field Codes" box.

Like said above, sometimes opening a new document and bulk pasting your whole revised document into it is helpful....just save to a new filename.
