I have a 55 gallon aquarium that has been established for some time now. I have three yellow tailed violets aka accei. One is about 6", 4", and 2". I have two red zebras about 4" and three baby red zebra/kenyi that are about 1". I also have a rainbow shark and a large pleco. What other fish (if any) could I add to my aquarium?

A trio of yellow labs would work. I woulnt do anything too aggressive. You might have problems with your red zebra/kenyi (im assuming they are hybrids) babies when they get older. Stick to 10 fish and under.... and also your rainbow shark shouldnt really be in there... he might get picked on by the cichlids.

I thought the same thing when I bought him, but someone told me that they had one in their cichlid aquarium. I have had him for awhile now and no one bothers him. He swims wherever he wants and has a good ol' time. :)

I was thinking maybe a catfish? Or an eel? Or something weird like that.

An eel doesn't belong either. I like Synodontis catfish, but I used to keep a Pictus cat with my Africans. If you want another cihlid you could always go for another Mbuna or maybe a Hap.

The following link will give you a quick look at possible fish. You have strictly Malawi cichlids now so you might want to try and stick with them. I mix Malawi and Tangynika fish, but when I do I try to have at least two or three from the same lake. Example: right now I have 9 fish in a 55---two are from Tang.

Ok I have discovered that catfish grow to 10" and I don't know if I can handle a 10" catfish. Maybe a 10" shark or some odd thing like that but not a catfish. How about some Botia or Leporinus? Something different and cool!

Not all catfish grow to 10".... there are way too many species out there! Catfish from Lake Tangynika will work with your setup. Synodontis multipuncatus or petricola.
