Grotesquely tattooed fish I saw in a local Garden Centre on sunday. Abuse like this should be illegal.

Pleeeeaaassseee tell me you are kidding? Do people really do this to fish? That is horrible. I read someone's post on another thread that said "just say no to dyed and mutated" fish. I thought, what is he talking about? Are there any organizations to stop this? This is just as bad as doing it to a dog or cat which you know PETA would never stand for.

Come to think of it - mabybe worse because fish can't yelp or hiss. aaarrrggggh

So, I guess I got worked up over nothing! Don't I feel silly now!

Those are dyed parrot cichlid fish. Yes, they inject them. It is a tragedy. Unfortunately, they are a very real fish that someone has done that too. Usually what they call "Jelly Bean" Parrots are dyed as well.

What a cruel act

.... Look what have they done to our lovely blood parrot... I wish those people will suffer the same thing like the fish did.

They inject all kinds of fish. Less than %10 of those fish injected survive the needle, and the color almost completely fades away in three months. So how do they justify this? Its completely inhumane, not to mention pointless.

Lovely? Bloodparrot? Well to each his own I guess. IMO the creation and sale of blood parrots is almost as bad as the practice of dying them. Untill you've owned every cichlid that the process of evolution gave us, why do you need to "Make" new species? With all the beautifull cichlids out there, why own such an ugly, deformed, fish, that would not survive two generations in the wild.
