Anyone happen to know if I can run a 36 watt PC off the 55 watt ahsupply kit? I want the future usability of th 55w but only need 36w right now. I havent heard from them in a few days so I figure I'd try this one out here.

Yes you can...The ballast is rated (I believe) for up to 60 watts and anything less will work...I should have thought ahead like yourself and gotten the 2x36 watt kit...I need more light and now I need to buy a new ballast...And so goes the addiction...

Yes, the ballast, and wiring is the same.
You can also run a 40W bulb in the kit, but then you have to change the position of a few wire jumpers on the fixture (really easy)

Go for it - those are great kits, very easy to put together.

I think the ballast is the same on the two kits.

The main difference between the two, aside from the obvious, is the length -- the 36 is (a bit shorter than) 18" and the 55 is (a bit shorter than) 24". If your planning on hopping the lamp around from one tank to another that may not be a problem, but coverage may be a consideration beyond simple output.
